The Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir Elrufai has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind the recent ultimatum directing Igbos in the North to relocate to the South-East within three months while northerners in the South East should do same.

The Federal Ministry of Finance has confirmed release of N375.8M to the first batch of 20 providers of information under the Whistleblower Policy. The payment, of various amounts totaling N375,875,000, relate to the recovery of N11,635,000,000.

Youths from the Niger Delta region under the aegis of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) have warned the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) not to include the South-South region as part of its unguided agitation for secession or risk violent confrontation.

The Senator representing Delta Central, in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator, Ovie Omo-Agege has emphatically stated that Urhobo people are not part of Biafra. Omo-Agege in a statement released on Wednesday stated that the Urhobo nation is part of Nigeria and not interested in seceding or being part of Biafra.

There is widespread anxiety in the South Eastern part of the country. This is sequel to an ultimatum issued a Coalition of Northern Youth Groups directing Igbos residing in the northern part of the country to leave the region within three months or face violent attacks.

In a direct rebuttal to the sustained threat of secession by pro-Biafra groups in the South-East, a platform of frontline Northern youth organisations have demanded that all Igbos resident in the North must relocate from the region.
According to a joint statement by the groups, Igbos must leave the North by October 1, 2017.
