The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has warned some socio-cultural groups in the North including Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Arewa Youth Development Foundation and Arewa Student Forum to desist from actions intended to heighten tension and trigger ethno-religious crisis in the country or face action.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has distanced itself from allegation of coup plot by an online media platform (not Vigil360), describing it as mischievous and baseless. The NAF, in a statement issued on Thursday, said it remains loyal to the present administration and the Nigerian Constitution, insisting that it would do nothing to truncate the nation’s democracy.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has warned Nigerians not to blackmail the Senate over the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).  Saraki who handed the warning in a chat with Leadership newspaper stated that commentators on the matter should rather blame the development on the report submitted by the Department of State Service (DSS).

Nigeria's election umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the registration of five new political parties. The Commission made this disclosure in Kaduna after a retreat with Resident electoral officers as well as field officers undertaking the ongoing Continuous Voter Register (CVR).
