President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday received the visiting president of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Quattara at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Mr. Quattara, arrived the Presidential Villa at about 12.15 p.m., was introduced to some cabinet ministers and presidential aides by President Buhari before the commencement of their closed door meeting.
This is the first time the two presidents are meeting officially since the inauguration of President Buhari’s administration on May 29, 2017. Quattara who addressed State House correspondents commended President Buhari for taking Nigeria out of recession.
He said that they discussed how to strengthen existing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire. Ouattara also said that Buhari had accepted to be part of the African Union summit slated for the end of November in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
He stressed the need to deepen democratic governance in the sub-region, saying his meeting with Buhari focused on political situations in Togo and Liberia.
