National Chairman of the Youth Democratic Party, YDP, Barrister Georgina Aye Dakpokpo, has condemned the hasty arraignment of alleged corrupt suspects in court without proper investigation by the EFCC.
Barrister Georgina also criticised the anti-graft agency's penchant for media trials.
National Chairman of the Youth Democratic Party, YDP, Barrister Georgina Aye Dakpokpo, has condemned the hasty arraignment of alleged corrupt suspects to court without proper investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Barrister Georgina, who bared her mind in an interview Monday, with the Vanguard on the mid-term assessment of the APC government, also criticised theanti-graft agency’s penchant for media trials.
“They seem to rely more on public court and what people say. They should follow laid down procedure and investigate properly before letting people know what their findings are,” she said in the interview.
The EFCC has recently witnessed series of court losses in cases involving high profile suspects, a situation that has called the competence of the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, to question.
Magu has been rejected twice by the Senate following a security report from the State Security Service, SSS, which described him as unfit to head the anti-graft agency and feared that he “will eventually constitute a liability to the anti-corruption drive of the present administration.”
