Buhari Meets Tinubu In London

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday met behind closed doors with the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in London.

The President’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Alhaji Bashir Ahmad, made this known on his tweeter handle, @BashirAhmad, in Abuja.

The presidential aide posted: “President Muhammadu Buhari receives National leader of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (Jagaba) today in London.”

President Buhari, who is on an official visit to London had on Wednesday met with the Archbishop of Canterbury, His Grace Justin Welby in London where he explained why he declared his intention to run for another term in office.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a new website and other official social media accounts.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi gave the website address as www.officialapcng.com

Abdullahi said the APC Twitter handle is https://twitter.com/OfficialAPCNg

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has reiterated his support for local government autonomy in the country, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, in Abuja.

Saraki stated this during a visit by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by its National President, Comrade Ibrahim Khalil.

He said: “Here in the Senate and the National Assembly, we appreciate the importance of governance in the third tier of government — the local government,” Saraki said. “As such, it is very important that we strengthen local government administration.

Fayose Will Be Jailed After His Tenure – Fayemi

Governor Ayodele Fayose will spend many years in jail after leaving office in October, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his predecessor said.

Fayemi who is now Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and wants to seek re-election made the vow during his declaration of intent to contest for Ekiti State governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayose, he stated, will be made to account for the gross mismanagement of the state’s resources and allocation in the last four years.

Fayemi shocked the crowd by bringing out a red card from his pocket which he symbolically showed to Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ahmad Salkida

Ahmad Salkida, the Nigerian journalist, formerly based in Dubai, said today that only 15 out of the remaining 113 Chibok schoolgirls, believed to be with their Boko Haram abductors are alive. He made the claim in series of tweets today, in which he provided a backgrounder to the abduction, exactly four years ago.

Salkida said the surviving 15 girls have been married off, indoctrinated and may no longer be interested in returning home. He advises government in negotiating for the release of the 15 girls to demand ‘proof of life’.

His tweets dealt with the botched attempts during the Jonathan era when the Boko Haram terrorists were willing to release the girls on swap deals and later developments.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has given a 24-hour ultimatum to 20 committees of the Upper Chamber to submit their reports to the Appropriation Committee.

The directive by the Senate President to the committees was part of efforts to ensure the speedy passage of the 2018 budget.

Senator Saraki, who gave the ultimatum at Thursday’s legislative proceedings at the Upper House of the National Assembly in Abuja, maintained that the committees cannot hold the Senate back on the issues of budget.
