The presidency has responded to the controversy over remarks by President Muhammadu Buhari at a forum in London on Wednesday, during which he frowned at the attitude of some Nigerian youths.

The President's remarks have drawn reactions from a cross section of Nigerians, some of whom expressed disapproval.

Reacting to the controversy, presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, insisted that the remarks had been twisted by "manipulators" and "mischief makers".

The House of Representatives on Wednesday condemned in strong terms the Wednesday’s attack on the Senate by suspected thugs, who made away with the mace, thereby disrupting plenary. The Speaker of the House, Hon, Yakubu Dogara who led other members in a solidarity visit to the Senate described the incident as an “act of terrorism.”

The Senate has summoned the Minister of Defence Mansur Dan Ali, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun to appear before the Committee on Appropriation.

Adeosun and her colleagues were on Tuesday summoned before the Upper Chamber to explain why 462 million dollars was released for the purchase of helicopters by the Federal Government without its approval.

Following the invasion of the Senate on Wednesday and the snatching of the mace, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu is currently meeting with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo behind closed door. A source in the State House told Vigil360 that the meeting would avail the Deputy Senate President,

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday condemned the invasion of the Nigerian Senate by some thugs suspected to be acting on the order of the recently suspended Senator Omo-Agege. Recall that on Wednesday, some thugs in the company of Sen. Omo-Agege invaded the Senate chamber and hijacked the Mace, thus disrupting an ongoing session.

Former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has urged the public to disregard calls on him by All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to defect to the party. National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, had recently called on Ihedioha to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join forces with APGA in the South-East to advance his political career.
