A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mba Ekpezu Ukweni has said contrary to reports issued by the Federal Government that Dapchi Schoolgirls were released unconditionally by Boko Haram, the Buhari administration paid heavy ransom before the abducted girls were released. Ukweni in a phone conversation with Dailypost on Thursday regretted that the federal government was very economical with the truth over the release of the abducted girls.

He also claimed that the ransom collected from the government was being used by the sect to buy more sophisticated weapon.

“Many people in the present government are behind Boko Haram. I said it with all amount of seriousness. It is sad that they don’t know the exact number of people who were released hence they came out with conflicting figures.

"It is becoming clearer that herdsmen that are terrorising the country at one point to another are also Boko Haram members. The activities of Boko Haram is an extension of the herdsmen, it is clearly an extension of herdsmen; they are working hand in hand.

“If you see the sophistication with which the herdsmen are operating and you compare it with what Bako Haram is doing, they are working together, they understand themselves.

“I will keep emphasizing that the government at the federal level and some states in the North know something about Boko Haram and they are part of it. He said the government should come out to deny if some of its cabinet members are not members of the sect or sponsors of the rampaging herdsmen.

“They should come out and deny it. They know what is going on, there is no how the federal government will tell me that, in a country with the military, with a lot of security, they cannot put an end to Boko Haram and activities of herdsmen. Money was paid as ransom and it is this money they used in buying more arms and kidnap more people as well as terrorising other parts of the country in the name of herdsmen.

“Boko Haram is part of the present Federal Government. They know the intention of the group and they are funding it,” he alleged.
