The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refuted insinuations that have been drawn in some Media that Nigeria is to extradite 1000 Turkish citizens. Some of the media reports credited to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, implied that 1000 Turkish nationals face extradition from Nigeria at the request of the Turkish Government.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media, Sarah Sanda said that no such agreement was ever cemented. He assured all foreign nationals living in the country that their protection is guaranteed.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry wishes to state in clear terms that, no such Agreement was entered into,” the statement read.

It said every individual of whatever nationality, legally residing in Nigeria was guaranteed full protection under Nigerian and International Laws.
