Prominent leaders of Yoruba race under the auspices of Yoruba Leadership and Peace Initiative have called on the Federal Government to earnestly begin the process of implementing the 2014 National Conference report before 2019 general elections.
The suggestion was made on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital at a unity retreat organised the leaders.

The Cameroonian government has repatriated about 887 Nigerian refugees who escaped to the country due to the activities of Boko Haram. The External Relation Officer of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR), Hanson Tamfu made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

Emerging report indicates that the former Governor of Taraba state, Dambaba Suntai is dead. According to Saharareporters, the former governor who had survived an air mishap in 2012 died at home where he was undergoing rehabilitation for brain injuries arising from the plane crash.

Information, Culture and National Orientation Minister, Lai Mohammed

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, has promised that the federal government will continue to fight against the illicit trafficking in cultural property and artefacts.  Declaring open an exhibition of repatriated Nigerian artifacts in Lagos, the Minister challenged the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) to double its efforts in checking the illicit trade in cultural property.

Antonio Canhandula - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced its decision to discontinue provision of aid to Nigerian refuges. The UNHCR representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Antonio Canhandula made the disclosure on Wednesday during an interactive session with some refugees from Niger, Cameroun and Sudan in Lagos.

Ayodele Fayose, the outspoken governor of Ekiti state has succinctly declared his interest to run for President in 2019 general elections. Vigil 360 gathered that the governor made the declaration on Friday at a meeting with political office holders at the Government House, Ado Ekiti.
Fayose, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) averred that he and his party have the attributes to wrest power from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress in 2019.

The Nigerian Army (NA) on Saturday confirmed the arrest of a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Aliyu Ahmed, alias “Aliko”. The army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman in the statement released today said that “Aliko” was arrested on Friday by troops of 33 Brigade following a tip off in Yuga village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where he has been in hiding.
