About three persons were left critically injured today when a twin bomb blast exploded at Rumuwoji playground during a rally of the All progressive congress, APC party in port Harcourt, Rivers state Capital. Amongst those who sustained injuries were two women and a man who were immediately rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. The APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Darlington Nwauju, confirmed the incident describing it as ‘unfortunate’ as police spokesperson, Iringe-Koko corroborated the APC statement.
However, it is not clear what the exact cause of the incident is, but is suspected that it could be an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, that was used on innocent civilians.
Meanwhile, police have swung into an investigation to unveil the culprit behind the act.
