The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has extended the suspension of National Passport processing and migrant e-registration from 23rd April to 23rd May 2020. The extension order was issued by its Comptroller General (CG), Muhammad Babandele in a statement on Thursday through the Service Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sunday James.

The NIS explained that the extension would give the ongoing fight against the Coronavirus global pandemic the deserved attention and approach while putting into consideration the successes achieved and the need to drastically reduce the spread.

According to Babandele, "The Service is taking advantage of this period to process all pending passport cases and the public will be duly informed when they are ready for collection at the expiration of the restriction order."

The NIS 2020 recruitment deadline has equally been postponed till 30th April.
