Tinubu, Governors Okays Creation of State Police

The Federal Government alongside the Governors of the 36 states has okayed the creation of state police following the rise in insecurity in the country, the hike in food prices, and the economic hardship its citizens are facing.
Earlier today, there was an emergency meeting at the Aso Villa between President Ahmed Tinubu and state governors. Following the meeting the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, addressing the State House correspondents stated that the process of creating state police across the federation was still in its infancy and would progress after deliberations between stakeholders.

Insecurity: Declare State of Emergency Now – NBA Tells Tinubu

Umbrella body of Nigerian lawyers , Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on the issue of insecurity in the country at the threat has continued unabated.
According to the lawyers, “what Nigerians require is a well thought-out, informed, all-inclusive and purposeful intervention, with as much necessary information made available to the public as made be dictated or permitted by the security situations from time to time.”

Nigeria Sitting On Keg Of Gunpowder – Says Sultan Of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has expressed fear that with millions of Nigerian youths left without jobs and food, Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gunpowder. This came two days after the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, had decried the ravaging hunger and starvation in the land. Speaking at the 6th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council yesterday in Kaduna, the Sultan said the economic hardship in Nigeria had reached a level where citizens were agitated, angry, and hungry. Police Arrest Seven Kidnappers, Recover N9m Ransom In Abuja

The Nigerian Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Abuja, has confirmed the arrest of seven notorious kidnappers and the recovery of N9 million cash collected as ransom. The police commissioner in FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, while parading the suspects at the command on Wednesday, said the wanted kidnappers were arrested by operatives of the Utako police division led by CSP Victor Godfrey in a coordinated operation at Tudun –Wada Lugbe and Pyakasa area of Trademore. They were identified as Usman Muazu from Kwali, FCT, Aliyu Mohammed, from Pumpomare area of Borno state, Awwal Dahiru, who hails from Gwagwalada area council of the FCT, Rabi Sani, from Safana, Katsina state and Madina Abubakar, from Gulu, Lapai local government area of Niger state.
