As South-East Development Commission Bill Scales Second Reading, Ohanaeze Youth Urge President Tinubu For Assent

An apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has applauded the National Assembly effort over the passage of the South-East Development Commission, SEDC, bill to its final stage. Recall, the Senate had on Thursday passed the bill for final reading two months after its passage by the House of Representatives. 

EFCC: 70% Of Financial Crimes Linked To Banks

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that banks were involved in about 70 per cent of financial crimes committed in Nigeria. This was made known by EFCC’s Director of Internal Audit, Idowu Apejoye who represented the EFCC Chariman, Ola Olukayode at the 2023 Annual Retreat and General Meeting of the Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in Nigeria (ACAEBIN).

UK Based Nigerian Researcher Innovates AI Tool to Identify Terrorists

A United Kingdom-based Nigerian researcher, Yunusa Jibrin, has revealed his newest innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool having the capacity to recognize terrorists irrespective of their location in Nigeria. Jibrin stated that if his findings are been adopted by the federal government, would help to direct the efforts of the military toward identifying and eliminating bandits wherever they may be hiding in the country. Being a Master’s degree graduate in computer science from the University of Sussex, Jubrin in an interview with Vanguard on Sunday that he leveraged AI-driven image synthesis to generate thousands of visual representations depicting bandits in desert environments.

IGP Orders Nationwide Ban Of POS Machines At Police Facilities

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has banned the use of Point of Sale (POS) machines and other electronic mobile money transaction devices within the premises of police stations and facilities across the country. This was made known in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, which stated that the development was a result of “public outcry on alleged illegal and illicit transactions through POS machine operators and connivance with certain police operatives”.
