The Kano High Court has sentenced a 47 year old Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong to death by hanging, over the murder of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani. The presiding judge, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’ aji who delivered the judgment on Tuesday stated that the defendant’s testimony was inconsistent, thereby found him guilty, he however recommended mercy on behalf of the defendant to be considered by the Kano State governor.
Recall that on September 16, 2022, Frank was apprehended for killing Ummukulsum at Janbulo Quarters in Kano State.
Despite testimony from six witnesses which reinforced the prosecution’s case, Frank pleaded not guilty and claimed he didn’t intend to kill but stabbed her in self-defense after she grabbed his testes.
