The panel set up by the Defence Headquarters to investigate the killing of three police officers and civilian in Taraba State by soldiers on Wednesday visited Governor Darius Ishaku.

According to Punch, the panel led by Rear Admiral I.T Olaiya arrived at Taraba Government House around 1:50 p.m. and proceeded to the Governor’s office.

Governor Darius Ishaku who received the panel requested that journalists leave the venue of the meeting.

The President had ordered an investigation into the matter days after the incident. Members of the panel were reportedly drawn from the Military, Police and the Department of State Services, DSS.

Yesterday, reports emerged that the Panel had arrested two Police officers suspected to have tipped off the Kidnap kingpin, Alhaji Hamisu Wadume, and some compromised soldiers of the impending arrest.

The panel has also taken into custody the Army Captain that allegedly ordered the killing of the Police officers. Apart from the Captain, soldiers on duty at the two military checkpoints are also in detention.

Meanwhile, Police authority said it has established that the Captain made contact with Wadume about 191 times within one month.
