The Supreme Court has affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which dismissed the appeal on no-case submission filed by Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Metuh is standing trial for allegedly receiving N400 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar says the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will establish a Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Taraba State, as part of plans to further tackle the incessant herdsmen-farmers clash in the country. The CAS, who announced the plans while delivering a lecture to participants of National Defence College (NDC) Course 26 in Abuja, also announced plans to establish a Quick Response Wing along the Benue-Nassarawa Axis.

The Nigerian Army has launched a new operation code-named “Ayem Akpatuma”, meaning ‘Cat Race’ to tackle the crises between herdsmen and farmer as well as cases of kidnapping in Benue and other states. Chief of Training and Operations, Major General David Ahmadu, announced this on Wednesday while briefing reporters at the Army Headquarters Conference Room in Abuja.

The Federal Government on Thursday arraigned the Director of Finance and Account in the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Ibrahim Tumsah over his alleged failure to declare his ownership of 86 exotic cars. Yumsay who was docked before the Federal High Court in Abuja alongside his brother Mr. Tijani Tumsah was a member of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative and a former Interim National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned that the government would no longer tolerate the attacks by suspected herdsmen and other bandits. Buhari who was on official visit to Nasarawa state, frowned at what he described as “unwarranted killing of innocent citizens’’. He said the government was working hard to instil peace and stability and enjoined Nigerians to resist the temptation of engaging in reprisals.
