Flood kills Two In Taraba, Destroy Properties

Tragedy struck in Taraba State as two persons are reported killed during a heavy downpour on Thursday in Jalingo the state capital. It was gathered one of the unfortunate victims a thirty-year-old man named The deceased, Abbas Ahmad Dansoja, was said to have been swept away by flood while attempting to remove a table blocking the free flow of water through a nearby culvert. Meanwhile, members of the community have organized a search party to recover Dansajo’s remains. However, a relative to the deceased has urged residents around river banks to watch out for any corpse floating on water. The downpour, that lasted for hours reportedly destroyed property worth several millions of Naira. It came barely a few weeks after a flood rendered many persons homeless in the Jalingo metropolis.

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku visited scenes of the disasters for on-the-spot assessments and to sympathise with the victims.

The Governor said that blockage of waterways and the drainages were responsible for the flood, urging residents to maintain sanitary rules.

He promised to accord the victims with food items and other assistance.
