Health workers under the aegis of Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) at the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC), Owerri embarked on a protest within the hospital premises on November 21.

The health workers accused the management of the hospital of illegal deduction of their September salary without any supporting directive from the Federal Government.

They also accused the management of high-handedness, victimization of staff as well as failure to release the promotion list of the senior staff.

The workers were sighted displaying placards with various inscription emphasizing that the management of the institution commit to doing what is right and needful.

While speaking the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Solomon Nwafuru mentioned that the management should regularise their salaries for peace and industrial harmony to reign in the centre.

Meanwhile, every effort made to get a response from the management concerning the allegation proved abortive as the seemed unprepared to speak on the matter.
