President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa as the new Director General (DG) of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
This was disclosed on Monday by the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu.
Adetifa would take over from Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu who has been appointed as an Assistant Director General at the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Director General of WHO, Tedros Ghebreyesus said Ihekweazu would be in charge of WHO’s pandemic and epidemic response hub in Berlin, Germany.
Ihekweazu is expected to assume his appointment at WHO on November 1, 2021.
President Buhari had appointed Ihekweazu in August 2016 to head the NCDC.
