The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian says the cure for the deadly Corona Virus has been found. The Ambassador made this claim while addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, saying the Chinese scientists were working hard to develop a vaccine for the virus and have gotten a breakthrough, assuring that the epidemic will soon be a thing of history latest in the next two weeks.
He revealed all things being equal, the epidemic has come to an end, as it has been contained, controlled and ultimately treated, saying the Chinese has gone through the storm and have overcome the obstacles. The 1000 makeshift hospital set up in Wuhan was set up in just 9 days and has already been put to use, these revealed how committed the Chinese government is, he said.
Pingjian disclosed that currently, about 60 Nigerians lives in Wuhan, the epicentre of the disease in China.
He explained that life is a precious gift and the Chinese Government is committed to protecting the health of its citizens, this was demonstrated through a responsive action that the government put in place to safeguard all foreign nationals living in China including the Nigerian expatriate.
The Ambassador further revealed out of the people who were admitted in the hospital for contracting the virus, 475 amongst them has been discharged after receiving treatment and have fully recovered while 361 had died from the disease.
As at yesterday, he said the number of cases of virus-infected people shoot to 17,205 while about 21,558 others were suspected to have been infected within the Chinese mainland, Pingjian added.
