The Japanese Self Defense Forces and visiting U.S vessels carry out a three day military drills in the sea of Japan,following mouting threats resulting from North Korea's weapon programs.
The U.S carriers, the USS Ronald Reagan and USS Carl Vinson, and their escorts, along with vessels from Japanese military including the helicopter carrier, the Hyuga, will take part in the exercise.
The exercise is coming on the heels of rising tension in the Korean peninsula with China calling on all sides to exercise caution and seek diplomatic means of resolving the issue.
