Nigeria and United States’ legislators and executives, industry experts among others would be meeting next month at the 2017 U.S-Nigeria Legislative and Executive Leadership Forum to discuss issues affecting Nigeria’s political and economic development. The Zamfara State Governor, northern Nigeria, Abdul-Aziz Yari and Senator Anthony Muse of Maryland, United States, are among the keynote speakers at the event scheduled to hold from November 15 – 18, in Washington DC, USA.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, the organiser of the forum, founder of Festival of Arts & Culture Expo Princess Asha Okojie-Osazuwa, said the forum will provide a platform for sharing of ideas and effective policy discussions to affect a truly restructured Africa.
Princess Okojie-Osazuwa said the forum with the theme “Nigeria Revitalisation Initiative: Global Partnership for Effective Development & Restructuring,” will review the Legal and Regulatory Framework of Public Private Partnership and foreign Direct Investment policies, aviation, tourism insurgency and food security.
“The forum is aimed at strengthening regional security, energy, inter-parliamentary diplomacy, foreign policies, trade relations and philanthropic initiatives through cultural diplomacy’’, she explained. She also said the event would provide an empowerment platform for young leaders to engage in productive dialogue on the global stage.
Princess Okojie-Osazuwa, said the event is also organised to “enhance public and private sectors involvement in promoting community economic development initiatives. Discussions on restructuring, small and medium enterprises for economic growth and job creation by creating an enabling environment for investment and capacity building will also form part of discussions at the forum, Princess Okojie-Osazuwa added.
Meanwhile, wife of the Nigerian president, Aisha Buhari; Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; Cross Rivers State governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State; Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, among other eminent Nigerians would be given honorary awards for their distinguished services in various fields of human endeavours.
