Fix Our Refineries To Increase Product Availibilty -IPMAN

An Executive Member of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Popoola Ogundoyin has revealed that unless the Federal government revived our refineries in Nigeria to take care of our demand for petroleum product, the problems in the oil sector will persist. Ogundoyin made this statement while speaking with newsmen in Ile-Ife on Saturday.

He said it is unfortunate that the public-private partnership and the stakeholder sector of Nigeria have failed to establish a modular refinery that can take care of our domestic demand for petroleum products for its citizenry.

According to Ogundoyin, Nigeria is the only oil-producing nation that has abundant crude oil but end up importing petroleum product.

In his statement, “On crude, we have almost 18 by-products such as petrol, diesel, and kerosene among others.

He added “If we are producing these by ourselves, surely the problem of unemployment will be solved, for many will be employed and this will improve the economy as well,” he added.

Ogundoyin, therefore, called on the federal government to rise up to the task of ensuring it does the needful through making life easy for the citizenry.

He challenged both the federal and the state governments to work towards establishing a refinery across the nation while the federal government fixed the existing one.

Consequently, he appealed to the federal government as a matter of urgency especially the highly placed politicians to fulfill their campaign promises of reviving the oil sector.

He reminded them that it was the same masses that voted them to power they are enjoying today, and theses masses deserve a good life.
