MTN Nigeria Appoints New CEO

Telecommunication giant MTN has appointed Mr. Karl Toriola, the current Vice President of MTN Group's West and Central Africa (WECA) region as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Nigeria, taking over from Ferdi Moolman.

Toriola who holds a BSc Hons in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and MSc in Communication Systems served as VP WECA for five years with outstanding performance, notably MTN Cameroon and Ivory Coast. Also, commercial growth in the WECA region recorded a significant increase including the development of mobile financial services like MTN MoMo.
The new CEO who joined MTN Group in 2006 is a board member of a few companies including MTN Nigeria and has held several positions in the company like senior operational roles at MTN, including a chief technical officer of MTN Nigeria and CEO of MTN Cameroon.

Speaking on the development, MTN Group President and CEO, Ralph Mupita said "Karl brings extensive technical and commercial experience, as well as a deep understanding of the Nigeria market to the role"

"Karl started his MTN career in his home country at MTN Nigeria 14 years ago and has all the attributes necessary to lead this very important business into the future."
