Chelsea Football Club have officially announced the signing of France International, Tiemoue Bakayoko in a 5-year deal believed to be in the region of £39.7m. The deal is reported to have made the player the most expensive midfielder in Chelsea history, surpassing the £32m record hitherto held by another French International Ngolo Kante.

The new addition is expected to partner Kante at the heart of the Blues' midfield as the club sets out to defend the EPL title and compete for the Champions league next season.
According to report posted on the Club's website, Bakayoko who is recognized as the best young central midfielder in European Football will wear the No.14 shirt.

After the completion of the deal, the player said ‘I am very happy to be here and to join this great team. I have grown up watching Chelsea. Signing was the natural thing for me because it is a club I loved very much in my childhood. I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team-mates.’

Meanwhile, Chelsea's Technical Director, Michael Emnalo has described the player as an outstanding star who contributed immensely to the emergence of Monaco as one of Europe's best sides last season.
‘Tiemoue was outstanding as Monaco emerged as one of Europe’s best sides last season and we are delighted to welcome him to Chelsea.

‘Despite his young age he already has plenty of experience as French title winner and having competed in the latter stages of the Champions League, we believe he will add considerable quality to our squad.’
