Ronald Koeman's Everton are reportedly readying a bid for Edinson Cavani when the January transfer window opens to strengthen the club's chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season. According to ESPN, the Toffees have scored just four times in the Premier League this season, with Koeman forced to turn to former outcast Oumar Niasse against Bournemouth last Saturday.

According to the report, although Niasse bagged a brace in the encounter which ended 2-1 in their favour, the Everton boss has big plans to revamp his forward line, with Cavani leading the shortlist of targets.

Everton had tried to lure former Chelsea striker, Diego Costa to Goodison Park but the player preferred a move back to his former club, Atletico Madrid.

The choice of Cavani may have been informed by the recent squabble involving him and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) big money signing, Neymar. Both players had clashed in the game against Lyon over a spot kick role.

Pundits believe that with the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, couple with the emerging dressing room crisis, the Uruguayan striker might be on his way out of PSG.

The permutation gained more weight few days ago when Cavani was noticeably absent at the Birthday party of skipper, Thiago Silva.
