The recently launched Political party, Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) is currently battling allegation of intellectual property theft, barely a day after it was officially unveiled in Abuja. On Monday, following the official launch of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) of Alliance for Democracy (AD) accused the APDA of stealing their logo.
In a protest letter signed by the National Auditor of AD, Ismail Ayodele to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the party called on the election umpire not to register APDA or face court action.
“We write to protest and strongly oppose the use of the logo launched today (Monday) in Abuja by a new association known as Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) looking for INEC registration to become political party. Alliance for Democracy (AD) is not against your coming but we are strongly against you to snatch 95 per cent of our existing logo which has been in use from 1998 to date.”
Vigil360 had earlier reported on "Ahmed Makarfi Faction Of The PDP Unveils New Political Party" stating that some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Ahmed Makarfi faction had collaborated with other members of Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) to form the APDA.
The formation of the party was to provide an alternative political platform for the Makarfi faction, if the Supreme Court rules in favor of Ali Modu Sheriff in an appeal seeking to upturn the ruling of an Appeal Court which recognized Sheriff as the authentic National Chairman of the PDP.
