IPOB: Senate Seeks Ekpa’s Extradition Over Sit-At-Home Violence

The sit-at-home orders is said to be enforced by the Eastern Security of Nigeria (ESN), a violent group created by Kanu, otherwise known as the unknown gunmen in the region.

On Wednesday, Senator Osita Izunaso, representing Imo West, seeks the House involvement to address the enforcement of sit-at-home in the South-East by unknown gunmen; lamenting the unnecessary loss of innocent lives, disruption of academic progression and destruction of economic activities in the region on account of IPOB sit-at-home.

Izunaso also requests the release of the IPOB leader, Kanu on account that the region will witness subservient environment.

The Red Chamber accepted all the prayers but refused the political interference in Kanu’s case, as it was against the Senate standing rule to try to meddle in a matter before the court.

The motion stated that, “Invite the Minister of Foreign Affairs (when appointed) and relevant stakeholders to carry out a thorough investigation as well as bring other sponsors of the act to book”.

The lawmaker representing Abia South, Eyinnaya Abaribe, acknowledged his stride with a former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who had in the past met with Finland Ambassador over Ekpa’s sadistic orders, “and what she told me was that it is a Government-Government interaction.”

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio responding to the motions added that, “If the governor of the State himself observes the sit-at-home and the civil servants who work for the government also sit-at-home the criminals would be empowered” therefore urged the States Governments to develop preventive measures to restrain the menace.
