The Federal Government (FG) has commenced the appointment of a new Accountant-General of the Federation and shortlisted 14 directors on Grade Level 17 in the Federal Civil Service. This was made known in a circular issued by the Director of Administration, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), Mariya Rufai, and received by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.
Nominees for the position are Muhammad Saleh, Chizea Onochie, and Lydia Shehu, from the OAGF.
Others are Modupe Julianah (Ministry of Police Affairs), Danaladi Zakowi (Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps), Abah Fidelis (Nigeria Immigration Service), Mohammed Aminu (Federal Fire Service), and Omachi Omenka (Ministry of Interior).
The list of nominees also included Ibrahim Jibo (National Boundary Commission), Samuel Waziri (Ministry of Agric and Rural Development), Mahmud Kambari (North East Development Commission), Yusuf Musa (Federal Ministry of Information and Culture), Mohammed Doho (Federal Ministry of Education) and Mufutahu Bukolah (Federal Ministry of Transportation).
The position of Accountant-General of the Federation was declared vacant following the FG’s suspension of the acting Account-General of the Federation, Chukwuyere Anamekwe over money laundering allegations leveled against him.
Anamekwe was replaced with a former Director of Treasury Single Account (TSA), Mr. Ezeoke Sylivis.
