Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one of the aspirants who sought to fly the party's flag in the forthcoming Ekiti state governorship election, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has dumped the party after failing to clinch the ticket.

Adeyeye who came second in the primary polled only 771 votes while the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Kolapo Olusola emerged winner of the primary.

The Presidency has alerted the Nigerian public about a new dimension in the orchestrated plot to diminish the stature of President Muhammadu Buhari before millions of citizens who love their President.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, who raised the alert in a statement he issued on Wednesday, said the mischief makers are bent on tarnishing the image of the President ahead of the 2019 elections.

“First, it was a pernicious twisting and misinterpretation of the words of the President by mischievous elements; perhaps they can earn him opprobrium and infamy. When they see that the gambit is not achieving the desired results, they have now gone into utter fabrication of apocryphal statements, which they purvey through the social media,” Adesina said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of Kano State Islamic scholar and billionaire businessman, Isyaku Rabiu, as a colossal loss.

In a statement on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, President Buhari said Rabiu’s death was not only a loss to the field of learning but also the business sector.

The ruling All Progressives Congress has rescheduled its Ekiti governorship primary election for Saturday.

The primary was formerly scheduled for Friday.

Emerging reports indicate that at least seventeen political parties have formed a new alliance with the aim of adopting one candidate for the 2019 presidential election, to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The National Chairman of New Generation Party (NGP), Dr Yakubu Shendam who made this known at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday said the alliance has been branded ‘G21’.

Former leaders of the PDP who defected to the APC in 2013 have written to the national chairman of the ruling party to demand an urgent meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari “within seven days”, according to an exclusive report by TheCable.

They did not state their next line of action, although TheCable understands that they may pull out of the party which is already bedevilled by crisis following rancorous congresses nationwide last weekend.

The bloc, known then as the new PDP (nPDP), helped in dislodging the PDP from its 16-year rule in the 2015 general election.
