As zoning is threatening to tear Peoples Democratic (PDP) Party apart, Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal has called on the party to get their priority straight to either win election or zoning of the presidency. Though some bigwigs opined that his statement was motivated by personal interest, Tambuwal is being speculated to be amongst the people eying the number one seat in the main opposition party. The Sokoto State Governor said no one region in the country can win a presidential election alone.
Tambuwal made these remarks in Abuja today during a meeting with former principal officers of the National Assembly.
Accordingly, some political analysts posited that Tambuwal's statement was in response to Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike who has continued to insist that the PDP presidential ticket must be zoned to the southern region.
The Abuja meeting was in a continuation of his consultative engagement to garner more support to actualize his ambition ahead of the 2023 general election.
Tambuwal called on those clamoring for zoning to consider the demographic composition of the country and the outcome of previous elections results.
