An associate of President Muhammadu Buhari and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Ibrahim has warned state governors plotting to unseat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 to shelve such plans, as it would ultimately lead to the collapse of the party.

Ali who stated this on Thursday in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi said some Governors were planning to impose their loyalists during the ward, local government and state congresses instead of conducting free and fair exercises. He explained that the move was intended to produce National delegates that would eventually vote against the President during primaries.

"As I am talking to you now, we are aware of the APC governors’ plan to replace only vacant positions in their respective state to prepare them against Buhari during the national convention to hold soon because we have discovered some governors don’t want to conduct state congress election as announced by the APC for fear of losing election,” said Ibrahim

He urged the National secretariat of the party to closely monitor the exercises across all levels with a view to ensuring that internal democracy was observed. He also disclosed that various political groups have been mobilized to stage demonstration to kick against any governor that refused to conduct proper elections in his state.
