The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday pardoned sixty inmates serving prison sentences across various detention facilities in the state as part of his 60th birthday celebration. The Governor while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, after directing the release of the affected inmates warned that the gesture was not aimed at encouraging indiscipline.

He lamented the congested nature of detention facilities in the state and assured that he would liaise with relevant authorities with a view to fashioning out plans to decongest them.

He advised the inmates to be of good conduct going forward in order to avoid situations that could bring them back to prison. He also promised to organize vocational training programme for the inmates to enable them to be useful to themselves and the state in general.
