Chief Judge of the Federal High court, Justice Adamu Kafarati has assured Nigerians that all political cases before the court shall be concluded latest October 2019. Kafarati gave this assurance during an event organized by the International Human Right and Anti Corruption Society (IHRAS) on Monday in Abuja.
The Justice revealed that all political party deserves equal opportunity and that was what necessitated the initiative of directing all Judges handling political cases not to grant an ex-parte order in all political cases.
He said to avoid untoward development that will give room to political empires to cast judiciary in a bad light, he issued a circular during the last vacation that interim ex-parte orders to all political parties brought before the court be restrained.
In his words, “I believe that controversies, especially in political cases, can be minimized when the court takes a decision after hearing from all the parties involved.
“It is also important to note that all political cases that may affect any of the parties, which are still in our courts, be concluded without further delay to give all candidates the opportunity to pursue their political ambitions.
While directing all judges whom such cases are still pending before them to ensure they round them up before October 2019, Kafarati noted that democracy only thrive where there is rule of law while citizen rights are guaranteed and corruption confronted head-on.
