The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against president Buhari private trip to the United Kingdom, saying it was insensitive for the president to be absent for up to ten days when the country security situation is worsening.
The PDP opined that the President being the commander in chief of the armed forces is turning the blind eye on the spate of the insecurity that is currently bedeviling its citizens.
While addressing a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Prince Uche Secondus, the National Party chairman of the PDP claimed that the Buharis trip was not in the interest of the Nigerian citizenry.
Lamenting the rate of killing ongoing in Taraba, Benue, Zamfara, and part of Kaduna states of the federation, Mr, Secondus challenged the president to stem the tide.
Secondus also claimed president Buhari was arm-twisting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s legal team from inspecting the election materials despite a directive by the court.
The PDP chairman added that it was wrong for INEC to disobey a court order, saying that was impunity from the election empire as it was part of alleged efforts by the INEC and the ruling (APC) party to frustrate Atiku and the PDP from “reclaiming” the presidential mandate.
In his statement, “Nigerian leaders should speak up for the country before Nigeria slides into anarchy. People are being murdered in numbers everyday and the C-IN-C is going on a private visit. Nigeria is in crisis he said.
More so, the president is expected to spend 11 days on a private trip without writing to the National Assembly. He has not asked the Vice President to act. The PDP have condemned it.”
