The embattled Chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has challenged his being declared a wanted person for corruption allegations before the Federal High Court in Abuja. In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1174/2017, Maina argued that EFCC's publication of his name and picture in a newspaper advertisement on November 7, 2017, declaring him wanted, was a violation of his rights to dignity of person.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has warned politicians to desist from politicizing recent killings across some states of the federation. The Vice President made the call on Sunday in Abuja at the Inter-denominational church service for the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration. He explained that the current administration has observed with dismay that some people are exploiting the situation in Benue, Rivers, Adamawa and Plateau to score cheap political gains.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met behind close door with the Inspector General of the Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over the killings in Rivers, Benue and Kaduna states. Speaking with State House Correspondents after the meeting, the IGP said he had received a fresh charge from the President on how to effectively police the entire country. He assured that more policemen would be deployed to the affected areas especially Benue state to compliment the efforts of those already on the ground.

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mi-17 Helicopter has crashed while undertaking a mission in the ongoing counterinsurgency operation in the North East. The Director Public Relations and Information, NAF Air Vice Marshal, Olatokunbo Adesanya said the incident, which occurred on Monday, resulted in significant damage to the helicopter.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, has said that the Federal Government would rehabilitate and empower 490 Nigerians evacuated from Libya. Onyeama gave the assurance on the arrival of the returnees at Port Harcourt Airport in Rivers. He said that President Muhammadu Buhari had made resources available to ensure that returnees were evacuated as quickly as possible and enable them fit back into the society.

Benue state elders under the aegis of Mdzough U Tiv, Idoma National Forum and Omi Ny’Igede have condemned the recent killing in Benue state by suspected herdsmen, describing the development as an attempted genocide against the people of the state. The groups made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja. Speaking on behalf of the groups, Edward Ujege, the President General of Mdzough U Tiv said the Federal Government must urgently intervene to frustrate the planned genocide on the people of Benue.
