Senate Urges IGP To Probe Maltreatment Of Nigerians By Foreigners

The Senate has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba to investigate and prosecute foreigners engaged in the maltreatment of Nigerians nationwide. This call was made during Tuesday’s plenary in the red chambers of the National Assembly in Abuja following a motion by Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo titled ‘Urgent Need to Check the Alarming Trend of Inhuman Treatment and Torture of Nigerian Citizens by Foreign Nationals in the Country’. The lawmaker referred to a case of inhuman treatment meted against one Friday Ndubuisi and a late Chadian who were both accused of stealing iron rods by their Lebanese employee in the Gudu District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Obiano Granted Bail After Days In EFCC Custody

Ex-governor of Anambra State, Wille Obiano has been granted bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after spending days in custody. Obiano was granted administrative bail by the anti-graft agency today. Parts of the bail conditions for the one-time governor was to provide two directors in the Federal Public Service with verified landed properties in the nation's capital as sureties.

NEMA- Communal Clash Claims Lives In Cross River

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the death of eight persons in a communal crisis between the Alesi community in the Ikom local government area and its neighboring community Ochon in the Obubra local government area. The South-South Zonal Coordinator of NEMA Godwin Tepiko confirmed the incident on 19th March 2022 during an on-the-spot assessment of the communal clash in both communities. He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the assessment that no fewer than 2,008 persons were affected and had been displaced from their ancestral homes.

ISWAP Leader, Sani Shuwaram Killed By Nigerian Forces

The notorious leader of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, Sani Shuwaram, and other terrorists of the sect might have been killed after an airstrike in the Marte axis. It was stated that super Tucano jets and other aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed multiple bombardments in the axes where Shuwaram’s camps were located.

Explosion At BUA Cement Factory In Sokoto

Three people have lost their lives in an explosion at the BUA cement factory in Sokoto, the tragedy occurred around 10 a.m on 18th March 2022. The spokesperson of the Sokoto State Fire Service, Bello Baban Addini, confimed the explosion in a statement but did not provide detail.
