Insecurity In Northwest: Foreigners Exchange Gold With Arms – Gov Matawalle Raises Alarm

Following the heightened security situation in Northwest Nigeria that has continued unabated, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state says foreigners now exchange gold with arms and other precious resources. The Governor stated this yesterday while answering questions from the statehouse reporters after presenting some gold bars and other precious mineral mined in his state to President Buhari at the Presidential villa. In his statement, “It’s very important to us as a government, particularly, the issue of insecurity, to know the root cause of insecurity. Zamfara state is blessed with many mineral resources and some people outside the country come in to buy gold and other precious stones and sometimes instead of paying people, they pay back with arms.

Community Policing: Many States Owe Workers' Salaries Hence The Delay In Approval - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has given reasons for the delay in approving community policing in Nigeria as the inability of states to pay workers' salaries. Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, speaking on behalf of Buhari said the president was particular about the sustenance of the community policing arrangement, hence the delay with his assent. Shehu also disclosed that the president was worried about the proliferation of arms, hence the delay.

The Kaduna state Magistrate Court 1 has set free two of the three suspects under investigation with the police in connection to the death of flying office Tolulope Arotile, Nigeria’s first female helicopter fighter pilot. Jet Belonging To Jedidiah Air Crashes Into Fence At Lagos Airport

An aircraft belonging to Jedidiah Air crashed into a fence at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, on Friday. The incident happened while the King Air 200 jet with registration number 5N-HIS, was trying to park at the tarmac close to a facility used by Bristow Helicopters. The accident according to eye witnesses occurred owing to brake failure and it caused considerable damage to the aircraft.

Tiv Versus Jukun Crises: Court Summons Gov. Darius Of Taraba State

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has yesterday ordered the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, to appear before it to answer the allegation of taking a side in setting up the panel to probe the unabated clash that has pitched Tiv and Jukun natives against each other in the state. Jointly in the summoned were four service chiefs of the country and head of other security agencies amongst others. Justice Ahmed Mohammed gave the order while ruling on a fundamental rights enforcement suits filed by some group of aggrieved persons in the state.
