Over 313 Pilgrims Quit Smoking After Performing 2019 Hajj

Report emanating from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia indicates that no fewer than 313 pilgrims from different parts of the world have quit smoking cigarette in the course of the 2019 Hajj season. This happened after visiting clinics of the Kafa (Enough) Society.
In a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) in Makkah has it that, on Sunday, 18th August 2019 quoted Abdullah bin Dawwod Al-Fayez, Chairman, Kafa Makkah as making the disclosure to the pressmen.

 

Al-Fayez was quoted saying “The pilgrims have been treated at Kafa’s clinics in Mina as part of a strategic partnership with Abu Ghazaleh charity.

The partnership was in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as well as the Health Ministry’s anti-smoking program.

The Chairman added that the program is under the supervision of the main committee for awareness of smoking hazards in Makkah and the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques.

The results of the exercise were remarkable this year as almost 113,000 pilgrims benefited from fixed and mobile Kafa awareness clinics.

He further informed that the clinics distributed awareness brochures, treatment cards and miswak (Tooth-Brush-Stick) as an alternative to 11,480 cigarettes that have been put down after counseling.

Adding that the programme is taking place for the fourth year in a consecutive manner.

It can be recalled that no fewer than 1.8 million Muslims faithful globally, including 65,000 pilgrims from Nigeria, performed the 2019 Hajj religious rites in Saudi Arabia.
