David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known by his stage name Davido has been slammed with a N20 million lawsuit over alleged breach of contract with 001 Entertainment, the organizer of "The Nigerian Queen"
Vigil360 gathered that the popular recording artist, performer and producer had agreed to perform along with other celebrities at the 9th edition of the Nigerian Queen which took place on June 10, in Port Harcourt, the River State capital. Davido was reportedly paid N5 million cash to seal the deal. The other artists invited by organizers of the show were Funke Akindele and Style Plus among others.
In a letter dated June 16, addressed to Davido, L. A MITE & CO, the Counsel to Churchill Eneh, the Manager of 001 Entertainment hinted that apart from the N5 million fees, Davido made their client to pay return tickets for 6 additional persons in his team at an extra cost.
The organizers lamented that few hours to the event, one of Davido's agents called to cancel the trip without any cogent reason. The letter further stated that the organizers were forced to hurriedly arrange for another artiste to make up for his withdrawal.
The lawyers are currently requesting Davido to pay the sum of N20 million damages within 7 days or be prepared to go to court. A breakdown of the money indicated N10 million as special damages, N5 million as refund of contractual fee earlier paid to the singer, N2.5 million paid to Adekunle Gold as a result of his withdrawal, N2 million spent on billboards and other advertorials and the sum of N926, 000 for flight and hotel reservation.
