Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019. The actor made the call in a short video currently being circulated across social media platforms. He claimed that his call was borne out of prevailing economic realities in the country, which has seen Nigerians being reduced to beggars.
He disclosed that on the average, he receives about one hundred request for assistance daily, but lamented that he has not been able to meet the entire requests.
According to him;
"Good morning Mr President. I hear you Want to run for second term in office; so as a concerned Nigerian, I decided to do this video for you. Concerning the second term bid, pls sir, don't bother. Just leave it. I don't think Nigeria and Nigerians can endure four more years of what is going on right now. Believe me it is really terrible. The hardship is too much.
'I watch your inaugural speech in 2015, you sounded like you really had the best interest of the people. You sounded like you really wanted to change things. I don't know what went wrong. Maybe this was not the plan. May be things went wrong. What we are seeing right now is not what people expected. Nigerians expected so much from you. But the hardship is too much. The hardship is too much..."
He listed some of the challenges facing the country to include insecurity, poverty and unemployment
Few weeks ago, Yul Edochie released a short video wherein he declared his intention to contest the presidential election in 2019. Whether his message to Buhari is to clear the way for him to emerge as the preferred candidate is yet to been seen.
Recall that he had contested the Anambra state governorship election last year but failed to make the desired impact.
