The Federal Government on Sunday announced the appointment of Dr. Abdul Zubair as the Acting Director-General of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), following the earlier suspension of Mr. Munir Gwarzo as the Commission's boss. The head of the Commission's Corporate Commission Unit, Mrs. Efe Ebelo announced the appointment in a statement issued to newsmen in Lagos.

She assured local and foreign investors of the Commission's readiness to ensure uninterrupted market operations and regulations. The statement also said SEC would continue to ensure the stability of the Nigerian capital market and sustain the all-time high level of investors’ confidence.

She added that recent developments in the commission would not be allowed to disrupt its regulatory effectiveness and efficiency as a statutory regulator of the capital market.

The statement also hinted that the report of investigation panel put in place to investigation allegations of corruption against the former boss was still being awaited.

Before his appointment as the Acting Director-General, Zubair was the Director in charge of External Relations in the commission.
