The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea in their first outing of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast on Sunday. The Los Elefantes via Iban Salvador drew first blood in the 37th minute before Victor Osimhen responded with a headed goal two minutes later. The Super Eagles of Nigeria could convert any of the big chances created against the Nzalanga Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Although, during the proceedings, the Super Eagles dominated the game, however, it was their opponents that first found the back of the net via a strike by Iban Salvador in the 36th minute.

CAF African Player of the Year and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen responded with a powerful header with a cross from Atalanta's forward, Ademola Lukman.

Nigeria’s next match will be to face hosts, Cote D’Ivoire on Thursday.
