British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says it is sickening to think of President Vladimir Putin glorifying in Russia hosting the World Cup and agreed there are comparisons with Adolf Hitler's use of the 1936 Olympics as a propaganda vehicle for his regime.

After the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Britain said it would not send royals or government ministers to the tournament, though the England team will compete.

Manchester United have submitted an application to the English Football Association, in anticipation that they will be granted permission to begin their own women's team.

The club's Executive Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward, while making the announcement Wednesday evening said: "We are pleased to announce that the club intends to establish its first ever professional women’s team and has submitted an application to enter WSL2.

"The FA has provided excellent support through the process and we believe that launching a team in WSL2 would give many more of our graduates from the Regional Talent Club the chance to establish themselves as first-team players.

Chelsea left-back, Marcos Alonso has revealed that his teammate, Alvaro Morata is very upset after Spain failed to invite him for the friendly matches in preparation for the world cup. Alonso who disclosed this during an interview expressed happiness over his invitation. He explained that he was delighted after the call-up as his grandfather and father both played for the national team.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech has explained the reason why his former club are failing to sustain the form that saw them lift the English Premier League title last season. The Arsenal Keeper in an interview with BBC Sports said he was surprised at the current performance of Chelsea and blamed the development on loss of confidence.
