Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state said that Benue state belong to President Buhari. The Governor continued, he is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and whatever he is doing, it his responsibility to give the president adequate protocol.


Meanwhile, as the president revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) will soon embark on drilling for a search oil and Gas in the Benue trough.

while addressing traditional rulers at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, President Buhari disclosed that NNPC will soon mobilise to site for drilling for a deeper search for oil and gas in the Benue Trough.


He said the oil and gas drilling search in the Benue Trough will be the next after that of drilling Kolmani River area, located within Bauchi and Gombe states.


He recalled that during his appointment as a Minister of Petroleum in the 70s, he had seen “an interesting seismic survey” that revealed presence of oil and gas from the Chad Basin through the Benue Trough down to the Delta region.

However, for commercial reasons, investment was directed to Niger Delta, given the promise of quicker results.


He narrated his past effort while serving as Military Head of State to diversify the country’s sources of oil to guarantee its unity, promising that his administration will leave no stone unturned to intensify efforts in that direction.


Meanwhile, the Tor Tiv expressed appreciation to Buhari for the manner he had conducted a peaceful campaign, without riots, violence, stressing that the president had set a good example.
