The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, February 16, 2019 for the presidential and National Assembly elections. The electoral body made the announcement on Thursday, adding that the gubernatorial and state assembly elections and the Federal Capital will hold on March 2, 2019.

Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, a Board of Trustee (BoT) member of People Democratic Party (PDP), says Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, cannot contest in the party’s primary poll for 2019 presidential election.

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has fixed February 17, 2018 for local government elections in the state.

Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan says no country is totally free from corruption. Jonathan stated this while addressing members of Forum of Ex-Speakers of Houses of Assembly at his Abuja residence on Thursday. He admitted that corruption was one of the serious challenges confronting the country but warned that the current approach used in the anti-graft war was faulty. He maintained that for the issue to be effectively addressed, the society must come up with reforms.

The Sokoto state government has banned members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) from embarking on any form of street procession. Barr. Suleiman Usman (SAN), the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Justice placed the ban on Wednesday at a press conference organized shortly after a Security Council meeting involving heads of security agencies and other critical stakeholders in the state.
