President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday asked the Senate to confirm the nomination of nine Resident Electoral Commissioners appointed for the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Buhari’s request was contained in a letter sent to the Senate, which was read on the floor of the Senate by its President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The President said this is in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
The nominees are Elder Monday Udo Tom, Akwa Ibom; Eric Olawale; Osun; Segun Agbaje, Ekiti; Siro Omorogbe; Edo; and Yahaya Bello, Nassarawa.
Others are Emmanuel Alex, Rivers; Mohammed Mogaji Ibrahim, Gombe; Baba Abba Yusuf; Borno; and Lukman Abdulrahman Ajibade; Kwara.
President Buhari’s letter was accompanied by the Curriculum Vitae of all those nominated for Senate consideration.
The Senate had on November 23 rejected Ahmed Bello Mahmud as nominee for the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Zamfara State.
