Following the recent skirmishes between the Police and naval personnel, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has warned Police operatives serving in Cross River state command not to retaliate the recent attack on their colleagues and Station located along Akim road, Calabar Metropolitan city by operatives of the Nigerian Navy.
The IGP issued the warning through the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Training and Capacity Development, Emmanuel Inyang who visited the affected station to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
Inyang stated that the Force would not allow the cordial relation with the Military and other security agencies to be rocked and assured that an "independent panel of enquiry would soon be set up to investigate the incident, and those found to be culpable would be brought to book"
After inspecting the burnt vehicles and parts of the station affected by the incident, Inyang visited the two polices officers and one Naval Rating who sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention at the Police Clinic and Navy Clinic respectively.
He was accompanied by the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 6, Abubakar Marafa, the Commander, Nigeria Navy Ship Victory, Commodore Salihu Jibril and the Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa.
