The leadership of Jama'atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has reiterated it unflinching support for the current administration's war against corruption, asserting that the current efforts were in tandem with Islamic command of Amir bil ma'aruf wan nahy anil munkar which encourages Muslims to frown at evil and encourage good deeds.

The group made their position known in a communiqué signed and issued by Prof. W. Junaidu and Dr. Khalid Abubakar, the Chairman and Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee after a two day annual pre-Ramadan meeting and national conference held on Wednesday in Kaduna. According to the statement, "corruption remains one of the challenges impeding national growth in the country.

"We are solidly behind the war against corruption. It is our hope that the fight would fish out all corrupt office holders while putting in place an institution that would address misappropriation of funds going forward"

The statement further condemned the Management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for conducting it orientation exercise during the Ramadan period, stressing that the move puts Muslim corps members at a disadvantage position

"The Central Council condemned in the strongest term the action of NYSC to conduct this year's orientation exercise in the month of Ramadan. This is because the prospective corps members would be at dis-advantage to their faith and other camp activities. The Council therefore, calls for the respect of the earlier agreement in the future. The group further called on Northern Governors to redouble efforts towards addressing the issue of increasing number of school dropout in the region as well as the ban on the use of hijab in some government schools. It also called on the the Nigerian Army to postpone the intended recruitment exercise until after Ramadan to avoid putting prospective candidates at dis-advantage."
