The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed April 15 for all outstanding Governorship, National, and State Assembly supplementary elections. This was made known on Monday in a post from the Commission’s official Twitter handle which reads, “Arising from its meeting held today, the Independent National Electoral Commission decided that all outstanding Governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections will take place on Saturday 15th April 2023.
“A detailed official statement will follow shortly.”
INEC had declared the governorship elections of March 18 in Kebbi and Adamawa states as inconclusive.
According to reports, Kebbi State governorship election was declared inconclusive due to alleged breaches of electoral laws which led to the cancellation of results in polling units.
Similarly, Adamawa State was declared inconclusive because of the margin of votes between the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani who scored 390,275 votes, and the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polling 421,524 votes.
Recall that in Sokoto State, the 3 Senatorial seats have also remained inconclusive.
